DescriptionA1-5. These account books, which were kept by servants of the Throckmorton family, are only part of a series. There are reference within them to a Day Book, Book of Petty Accounts, Wood Book, Labourers' Book, etc, which are not in this collection.

A6-12. Executors' and other accounts for the estate of Peter Giffard of Chillingtoon, Staffordshire. NB: Giffard's second wife was Barbara, daughter of Sir Robert Throckmorton, who was guardian of his grandson Peter Giffard junior, jointly with Sir Windsor Hunloke, following the elder Peter Giffard's death in 1746. The younger Peter died in 1749, before attaining his majority. The guardians were also executors of the elder Peter's will. These records include earlier accounts of Peter Giffard senior, dating from his inheritance of the Chillington estates, soon after 1718, and acting as ecxecutor of Sir HJohn Smythe, baronet, of Acton Burnell, Shropshire, whose son Edward married Maria, daughter of Peter Giffard in 1743.
