| Admin History | The Reading and District Civic Society was formed in April 1945 with the aim to encourage interest in the civic welfare of the town by lectures, study groups and exhibitions, and to undertake research and prepare reports to enable the development of the area. The society was wound up in 1951 due to insufficient interest but the correspondence includes proposals to reinstate the society in 1959. |
