Includes a copy of the directive from the Ministry of Supply to all local authorities to carry out a survey and make a schedule of all iron railings, gates, posts, chains, bollards etc; copy of compensation forms; schedule for Henley Rural District Council by Percy Walton, Surveyor, October 1941, annotated 'Obsolete', and revised version, December 1941; correspondence relating to appeals in respect of railings of special artistic merit or historic interest, including references to specific appeals; list of ironwork in the Henley Rural District which because of historic interest or excellance should be omitted from the schedule; correspondence relating to Wokingham Rural District Council; and correspondence relating to railings at the churchyards of St Lawrence, St Mary and St Giles, Reading, 1962-1963, including a sketch of St Lawrence churchyard with the railings marked and small drawings showing the style of the railings; and newspaper cuttings.)
