Admin History | Formerly known as the Windsor, Eton and District Rose and Horticultural Society, the Royal Windsor Rose and Horticultural Society adopted its new name in 1950 on its revival after the war. The society's principal activity is its annual exhibition or 'Rose Show' in June or July. First staged in 1892, it celebrated its Diamond Jubilee in 1964 (having lapsed during both world wars). From 1899 it enjoyed the unique privilege of being held on the North Slopes in the private grounds of Windsor Castle. Since 1970 a winter indoor show in November, 'Winterflora' has also been staged in the town. |
