Admin HistoryThe company was founded in 1759 by Thomas Davis in Newbury. For most of its history the company auctioned household effects, and farming stock as well as property and has gone through many name changes over time. Thomas Dreweatt took over the firm in 1884 when Alexander Davis, great grandson of the founder retired, ending the Davis family association with the firm. The company became known as Dreweatt, Watson and Barton when Arthur Watson and Harold Barton became partners. The company merged with Neates of Hungerford, founded in 1876, in 1987. The name finally disappeared with the merger with Carter Jonas in 2009.
