DescriptionThis collection documents the expenditure of the Bradley family who lived at Kynance, 4 Southcote Road, Reading, from 1928-1935. It consists of invoices from traders that were predominantly located in Reading but there are also some invoices from London department stores. The invoices reflect a wide range of expenditure including household maintenance, clothing, motoring, utility bills, school fees and medical expenses as well as the family's lifestyle, interests and activities. Robert William Bradley (who most of the invoices are addressed to) was a member of a family of Reading printers, Bradley & Sons Ltd and some invoices are addressed to him at Caxton Street where the Bradley works were situated. He was born in Reading in December 1887 and died in September 1958. He married Emily. M Browne, at Faversham, Kent in 1914 and they had four children: Pamela M. G. (b. June, 1916), Jean E. (b. September, 1918), Suzanne M, (b. September, 1919) and Robert H. (b. June 1922).
