Admin HistoryThe charity was established by royal charter in 1553, providing almshouses and a school for the poor of Abingdon. The school closed in 1870, and the charity subsequently provided additional support for Abingdon School (for records of which see SCH41). In the 1860s it provided Albert Park as an open space for the people of Abingdon, and continued to maintain it.
