| Description | Recommittal books or records of previous convictions appear to be either a draft copy or earlier version of the record of conviction books listed in P/RP1/2, although the information given is slightly different. They were probably compiled from around 1903-1914. Information for each prisoner includes register number, nominal register folio, reference to re-committal book [not generally completed], name, name in which convicted on previous charges, sentence, date and place of conviction, court, offence in full and prison where sentence was undergone.
The nominal register folio gives the volume and folio number for each previous conviction and as the nominal registers have a similar cross reference to the record of conviction books and re-committal books if the nominal register survives this should be used as the initial starting point for a search. |
