TitleDeeds of 11-12 Gun Street, Reading.
Description(Property described in 1780 as two front tenements in Reading, opposite St Mary's churchyard and near the Oracle House, with an entry or passage beneath one of the tenements, and two tenements at the rear. From 1815 to 1843 described as a messuage on the south side of Gun Street near the Oracle House, with a room at the rear formerly two messuages, now used as part of the principal messuage. In 1815 and 1816 the messuage was known as the Britannia public house, but this was no longer the case by 1827. From 1867 it was identified as 11-12 Gun Street. Bundle includes marriage settlement of John Shackel of Reading, husbandman, and Anne Pocock, nee Lock, of Reading, widow, 1780; abstract of title including transcript of statutory declaration relating to members of the Pocock family not mentioned in parish registers; and drainage plan for 12 Gun Street, 1878.)
