Admin HistoryFrances Jennings (sometimes known as Frances Jennings Clerke) was the daughter of Sir Philip Jennings Clerke, MP (1722-1788), and sole grandchild of Colonel Richard Thompson of Coley Park, Reading (which he had purchased from the Vachell family in 1727), and Jamaica. Frances and her mother Anne sold Coley manor in 1792, following the deaths of Anne's two sisters, but retained Whitley manor. Frances died in 1821, leaving her Berkshire and Jamaica estates to her niece Frances (1786-1861), wife of Sir George Henry Rose and daughter of Sir Charles Philip Jennings.
