TitleDeeds of 11 Crown Street (formerly Crown Lane) and cottages in Cave Court, Reading.
Description(Propoerty conveyed was described in 1769 as a messuage lately divided into three, with a small piece of ground behind, in or near Crown Lane. In 1781 there were five tenements, and they were described as being in the passage opposite the Crown Inn. From 1789 the location is given as the south side of Crown Lane. Between 1789 and 1809 a further five messuages were built behind the original five (formerly three) by Francis Cave. By 1855 one messuage was a dwelling house, shop and premises on the south side of Crown Street, and the other nine messuages were cottages in Cave Court, leading out of Crown Street. In 1889 the principal messuage is numbered 11 Crown Street, and the number of cottages was reduced to eight.
