The messuages in the Old Ward appear to have been replaced by new ones built in the late 1730s by Martha Peircy, and then sub-divided into six tenements. Only four messuages in the Old Ward are conveyed in 1756. From 1695 the property conveyed also includes a second messuage in the Old Ward described as an 'inner tenement'; and two messuages (formerly used as one) at a place called Caveys Corner on the north side of Broad Street (described in 1685 as 'High Street otherwise Broad Street), Reading.) |
