Admin History[Several generations of the Walker family, all confusingly called Thomas, were successive rectors of Tilehurst, and owned a substantial estate in the parish, including the advowson.

The first Thomas Walker of Tilehurst was son of yet another Thomas of Kirtleton, Oxfordshire, gentleman, and was born in c.1670-1671. He matriculated at Merton College, Oxford, in 1688, and was awarded his BA in 1691, and MA in 1694. He may have been rector of Aston Clinton, Buckinghamshire, in 1706. He was instituted as rector of Tilehurst in 1711.

Thomas Walker IV (1730-1798) was the last member of the family to be rector of Tilehurst (1769-1798). He had no sons, and the heir to his estates was his daughter Jane (1762-1854). She married firstly Dalhousie Watherston (1752-1803) of Manderston, Berwickshire, MP for Boston, Lincolnshire, 1784-1790, and then General William Mordaunt Maitland (1764-1841), but had no issue by either marriage.]
