Admin History | The school was established in 1904 as a grammar school for girls and pupil-teacher centre in the old Technical Institute building. Newbury County Girls' School (also known as Newbury County Girls' Grammar School) opened in Andover Road in 1904. There was also a preparatory department (fl. c. 1920s-1940s?). The school moved to new premises in Andover Road, Newbury, in 1910. In 1945 it became Newbury County Girls' Grammar School. It closed in 1975 when it was amalgamated with St Bartholomew's Grammar School (for boys), Newbury (SCH11) to form a mixed comprehensive school, St Bartholomew's School (SCH13), in the Andover Road premises. |
